Since November 2020, the doors of Lithuanian public libraries have been decorated with a distinctive symbol – the colorful puzzle “Library for All.” The different colors of the elements and their interconnection represent the ability to accept one another regardless of our differences and diversity. They also symbolize the libraries’ commitment to increasing the accessibility of their services for people with various disabilities, raising public awareness, and fostering tolerance.
On September 21, 2021, during the event “Library for All. Conference+”, a manifesto was signed in which members of the library community pledged to make every effort to ensure that libraries are accessible to all and to strengthen the inclusion of people with disabilities. In consultation with experts, creative industry representatives, and visitors, Lithuanian public libraries are implementing shared infrastructural solutions, improving staff competencies, and developing new services that help people with various disabilities to visit libraries.
